1. Overview

The Touchdown Pool is a game where participants predict the outcomes of selected football games each week. The objective is to accumulate the most points based on correct predictions and scores throughout the season. Each week, participants will predict which team will win a selected matchup and may also predict the total score or margin of victory.

2. Pool Format

Participants: Anyone can join the pool by registering and paying the entry fee.

Season Length: The pool lasts for the duration of the football season, typically starting from Week 1 of the NFL regular season to the final game.

Games Selected: Each week, a selection of games will be chosen for participants to predict. The pool will include major NFL matchups or any other football league games (based on the organizer’s choice).

Entry Fee:

100% Free to play

3. How to Play

Weekly Picks: Participants must make their picks by the designated deadline each week (usually before the first game of the week starts). Each participant will select one of the teams in each matchup as the predicted winner.

Example:

If the game is between the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys, participants will pick either the Patriots or the Cowboys to win.

Scoring:

Points are awarded for correctly picking the winner of a matchup. Points may also be awarded for bonus predictions, such as:

  • Correct Winner: 10 points
  • Correct Exact Score: 5 points
  • Correct Margin of Victory: 3 points
  • Correct Upset Pick: 8 extra points

Tie-breaker:

In the event of a tie at the end of the season, the participant who has made the most exact score predictions or has the most correct upset picks will be declared the winner.

4. Weekly Deadlines

Deadline for Submissions: Picks must be submitted before the first game of the week kicks off (typically Thursday night or Sunday). Any picks made after this time will be disqualified for that week.

Late Submissions: No picks will be accepted after the weekly deadline. Participants are encouraged to submit their picks early to avoid missing out.

5. Standings & Prizes

Weekly Standings:

Each week, a winner will be determined based on the number of correct picks. The person with the highest score for the week will win for that week.

Season Standings:

Throughout the season, the points accumulated from each week's picks will be tallied. At the end of the season, the participant with the most total points will be the overall winner.

Prizes:

Weekly Prizes:

Weekly winners will receive points.

Grand Prize:

The participant with the most points at the end of the season will win the grand prize and get a Square on the Square pool located at Square Pool

6. Rules for Scoring and Tiebreakers

Correct Pick: A correct pick means the team you selected wins the game. If the game ends in a tie (e.g., a tie game in the NFL), the pick is considered incorrect unless specifically stated otherwise.

Postponed or Canceled Games: If a game is canceled or postponed due to weather, scheduling conflicts, or other reasons, no points will be awarded for that game. If a game is rescheduled after the deadline, the game will still be considered part of that week’s pool.

Missed Picks: If a participant fails to submit picks for a week, they will receive zero points for that week. In some pools, participants may be allowed to submit picks retroactively, but this depends on the organizer's discretion.

7. Conduct & Fair Play

Integrity: All participants are expected to act in good faith and avoid any form of cheating, collusion, or manipulation of picks.

Changes to Rules:

The organizer reserves the right to make adjustments or changes to the rules throughout the season. Any changes will be communicated to participants in advance.

Disputes: Any disputes regarding scoring or rule interpretation will be handled by the pool organizer, and their decision will be final.

8. Example Week

Here’s an example of how a week might look in the pool:

Game 1: New England Patriots vs. Dallas Cowboys

Pick: Dallas Cowboys (Winner)

Points: 1 point for picking the correct winner.

Game 2: Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

Sportsmanship: The goal is to have fun and enjoy the football season while fostering a positive and friendly atmosphere in the pool.

Good Luck, and Finish Strong!
